Course Details

This 6-day course was designed for wildland firefighters to increase their rescue capabilities during an Incident With-In an Incident (IWI). This course meets NFPA 1006 Standards for Rope Rescue. This is a very hands-on course focused on small team operations with preplanned equipment. Rescuers will also review the medical skills and treatment of multiple patients, basic stabilization, and disentanglement with hand tools of trapped victims in vehicles and aircraft will be covered. This course is perfect for Hotshot Crews, Rappellers, Smokejumpers, and Short Haulers.

Course Details

This 3-day course was designed to increase wildland firefighters’ rescue capabilities. The focus is to work in small teams to solve IWI’s. The skills instructed in this course will help you move patients in low and steep-angle terrain using basic rope rescue skills. It will also increase your rescue litter evacuation skills not needing ropes. Basic stabilization of vehicle and aircraft crashes will be covered, as well as basic hand tools for the disentanglement of patients. This course is designed to be a force multiplier for fire managers to increase their response to IWI’s.
